People can call religious upbringings indoctrination. I am going to find out why.
People say that religious upbringings are indoctrination’s because sometime the child does not have a say in what he/she may believe in. For example, Muslims make their children learn Arabic and read the Quran so that they can pass into the afterlife. People might think that this is indoctrination because the child might not get a say in this. This goes back to the point religious Upbringing is brainwashing.
Others think that religion can suppress mans will and not allow them to think but they only think of religious ideas. An example of this is from the Simpsons where in an episode a man called the leader brainwashes people to join his religion and the leader is just hoarding money off those innocent people. This links back to my point because the leader literally brainwashes people into his religion.
Religion can teach people many things such as the right way of living e.g; donating money to charities as zakat, fasting for Ramadan to learn what it is like to live in starvation and poverty. Anyone who disagrees with giving money to homeless people, living like someone who is in poverty and standing up for disabled and homeless people are a disgrace to humanity and should be exterminated right now. Children have a choice to do these things and I chose to do these things. I link this back to the question because was given the choice
Many people may think it is indoctrination because they think ‘oh this person has to go to a mosque and this person goes to church’ but it really is not like that because I got a choice and i said yes i’m going to the mosque or yes i’m reading the Quran. I chose to do these things my self, my parents did not tell me to do these things but these were self inflicted choices that were made by me.
Many people think of brainwashing to do with the military and the cold war because of the brainwashing stations in the KGB and CIA as it is seen in video games like call of duty Black Ops which is based in the cold war and the main character was brainwashed by Russian ultrantionalists but there are still religious ways of brainwashing eg being forced to go to mosque or church, reading the holy scriptures, memorize main prayers
